Dental Crowns in Myrtle Beach, SC
A dental crown, also known as a dental cap, is a type of dental restoration that is used to cover and encase a damaged, decayed, or weakened tooth. It is a custom-made restoration that is designed to resemble the shape, size, and color of a natural tooth. Dental crowns are commonly used to restore the function, strength, and aesthetics of a tooth that cannot be adequately repaired with a filling or other dental treatments.
You may require a crown for:
- Broken or fractured teeth
- Cosmetic enhancement
- Decayed teeth
- Fractured fillings
- Large fillings
- A tooth that has undergone root canal treatment
Getting a Crown From Michael J. Maser, DMD, MAGD
At Michael J. Maser, DMD, MAGD, we use the highest quality all porcelain and tooth-colored crowns without the use of any metal, which eliminated that dark metal line at the gums. We take our time to ensure every crown fits perfectly and looks just like your natural tooth.
Getting a crown at our Myrtle Beach dental office usually requires two appointments. The first appointment involves taking a pre-impression of the tooth that will be used to make a temporary crown, removing any decay, re-building the tooth up with a special material if needed, shaping the tooth, and taking impressions that will be sent to the lab to ensure a perfect fit. A temporary crown will then be made and temporarily be cemented on.
After about four weeks, you will come in for your secondary appointment, where we will remove the temporary crown and then permanently cement the new crown.
