Bridges in Myrtle Beach, SC
A bridge is a fixed appliance that is made up of a porcelain crown and a false tooth (called a pontic) to replace a missing tooth. A bridge also helps restore chewing functionality and overall appearance of a patient’s mouth.
Dr. Maser provides the highest quality, fully custom all-porcelain bridges. Porcelain bridges are able to withstand natural wear and tear, as well as mimic natural tooth structure to keep your smile beautiful.
What are the Differences Between Bridges and Implants?
In contrast to an implant, which involves a titanium screw being surgically placed in the jawbone, a bridge is used to replace a missing tooth by permanently cementing the restoration on the adjacent tooth. A bridge is not only a more cost effective option for some patients but it also requires fewer steps, which leads to result in a quicker time frame.
What is Involved in the Bridge Procedure?
A bridge is completed generally in two appointments at our Myrtle Beach dental office.
The first appointment consists of taking a pre-impression to create your temporary bridge until your permanent one comes back from lab. We then proceed with removing any decay and shaping the teeth for your new bridge. A second set of impressions are sent to the lab so your bridge can be created. We will then cement your temporary bridge with temporary cement.
After four to five weeks, you will come in for second appointment to have your permanent bridge cemented on.
